Post apocalyptic Fiat 131
« am: 03. November 2010, 18:28:00 »
Long ago, there was a post-apoc car groupbuild on modelbrouwers.nl, a Dutch modelling site.
I went out and bought a car specifically for this build, then never got the time to do anything with it....

Luckily, they started a new post-apoc car groupbuild, so now I can finally build it!

I chose the Fiat 131 rally for the build, because it was cheap and blocky.

I'll give it bigger drive wheels, armoured cabin, bigger fuel tank, dozer blade and perhaps a weapon.

Where I am now:

Because I used some parts of the kit for other builds, I used a 'truck of the world' mercedes and a mercedes SEC coupe as donors for bits I missed.
I also found the seat from the fiat to be to spiffy and opted for the truck seat, which should look more post-apoc, or at least shitty  ;P

Windows and most of the vehicle will be covered in plating, slits in the plates will be used for vision. These will have bars or something.
I cut out the door because I'd like to make a dio of the driver resting/smoking or something.

Now I hope I can build it in the allotted time (1 month....)

cheers,

Ethan

Nice! I especially like the fact that it is a Fiat 131, and not a US/V8 car. Very cool, indeed!

Well, I figured that in a post-apoc setting, europa would also be ash, and as our cars use less gas and have working suspension you'd prefer to be in a EU car if possible ;P

I thought of the mesh as well, but I forgot to add it and now I'm not sure if I can make it convincing....

Will try though :D

I don't think I'll be adding guns, ok, maybe one.... we'll see

very cool  :D I like such kind of built up more than clean and shiny cars  :D

my parents drive an fiat 131 mirafiori (street-version - it gets f....g rusty after a few years) - they never buy a fiat again  :)
so, it´s very funny for me to see this type of car for your project  ;D

Yeah, I heard as much about fiat :P

I just chose it because it was cheap (5EUR orso at the time) and boxy :D

Good thing I didn't choose a citroen, those are the worst of rustbuckets  ;D
